Sketchfest!
Friday, June 22nd, 2012 01:18 pmI'm taking a break from working on meeksmas art to go play at Sketch Fest this weekend! My fellow artists and I will be taking prompts until noon (Alaska time) on Sunday, so come join the fun! As usual, I will be posting individual pictures to Facebook and twitter and the whole set here when they're all done. You can also keep an eye on my artist page for new additions. :)

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012 12:49 pmI've had a post in-progress for several days now, that I'm struggling to get done amidst all the distractions (planets! pie! IRL people!) but here's some stuff to check out in the meantime!
It's Muse Fusion weekend at
torn_world.
ariestess is hosting a free one-card draw until 1800 PDT.
The sixth Crowdfunding Creative Jam is open on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth, with a theme of "blood".

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 04:01 pmSignal boost! Get art, and help a sick kitty!
Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 06:01 pmMy good friend
reymonkey recently adopted a new kitten, who has sadly fallen ill. The kitty has been taken to the vet and put on antibiotics, which should have her feeling better in a few days, but Rey could use some help with paying the bill. Please check out her Etsy shop for art prints, wrist warmers, and hand-made jewelry, or consider commissioning some artwork!
signal boost! people to prompt
Sunday, February 19th, 2012 02:37 pmLooks like a lot of prompt calls were announced while I've been busy with my ebook formatting!
aldersprig has issued her monthly Giraffe Call, this time with the theme of "wine and/or roses".
ankewehner is hosting a Flash Fiction Fishbowl with the theme of "law and order".
clare_dragonfly's Garden of Prose is open, and she's seeking prompts with the theme of "fountains, statues, & gazing balls".
The
crowdfunding communities here and on LiveJournal are having a Crowdfunding Creative Jam and members are taking prompts related to alternative sexualities / QUILTBAG.

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 01:26 pmThe number of new pictures I have to add to my database (not to mention the state of my sent mail folder) would seem to indicate that I've been far from idle over the past month...but I've failed miserably at tracking and delivering perks for StorySketches. Urk. I must fix that!
I posted an update to Teddy's Travels yesterday (which no one has commented on *sadface*), and I should have an update to Mother-Tongue sometime tomorrow. The next new sketch will be from Karen Wehrstein's Philosopher in Arms. Next icon draw will be held...er, actually, I might as well just do it now. Congrats to
alee_grrl and
wyld_dandelyon! I'll PM you after I post this in case you don't see it.
Something else I'm far behind on is reading the entries on my reading/friends page, but I notice that voting has started for several categories of this year's Rose and Bay awards. I also notice thatone of you
aldersprig nominated me for the art category. *blushes* Thank you!

Linky time!
Saturday, January 14th, 2012 01:47 amLots of crowdfunding stuff going on this weekend!
aldersprig is holding her monthly Giraffe Call and taking prompts with the theme of "In the City". She has written The Origins of Smokey Knoll to my first prompt, and several donation targets have already been met, so now I have to think of another one!
It's Muse Fusion time at
torn_world. You don't have to be a Torn World member to participate! Suggested themes for prompts this month include "Fashions and Fads" and "Critters of Land and Sea", but any Torn World related questions or ideas are welcome!
The third Crowdfunding Creative Jam is this weekend, with members of the crowdfunding communities on livejournal and dreamwidth taking prompts with the theme of "Disabled People (visibly and invisibly disabled)"!
ysabetwordsmith has posted the poem Why Autistics Make Good Friends in response to one of my prompts, and she has written a Monster House poem related to another one, which can be sponsored for $10.
Update: The kickstarter campaign for Lorelei has a Dream is doing well, and has already reached 19% of its $9000 goal, after less than two days! Thanks to all who have participated so far!

status and sketchfest
Sunday, January 8th, 2012 10:03 pmI will be boarding a plane later tonight to go visit my family, and will be returning on Jan 18. As usual, I will be bringing my laptop, but I may be a bit slower to respond to messages due to the presence of live people.
The 48-hour SketchFest was quite a success! I did 12 paintings for it — enough to make up for missing last month. Coat of Arms has already sold, so I'll be cleaning it up to print, and copies of all the others are available through the SketchFest site.
( lots of pictures under cut )
In case you missed it, I did a guest post at
poetree On Illustrating Poetry on Friday last week, with some commentary on each of the poem-based Story Sketches I've done so far. Comments on this post will be counted toward this week's icon draw! (Which I'm postponing for a couple of days since I didn't give you any art to comment on until now. :P)
crowdfunding community is seeking nominations in six categories for this year's Rose & Bay awards. If you know of any great crowdfunding projects, feel free to suggest them! Personally, I'd love to see more people and projects from outside lj/dreamwidth get involved in this!
Speaking of crowdfunding,
aldersprig has a new idea for a project involving mini-stories on postcards!
ariestess 's monthly one-card-draw is open for a couple more hours (until 8PM PST). She's got a few decks to choose from, and donors are entered into a draw for a more in-depth reading.
