status: new perks!

There are two new incentive perks starting this month! The first, for sponsors: the sketch that brings in the highest amount in tips over the course of the month will get an extra round of work. Unlike, the linkback perk, it is possible for the same sketch to receive this perk several months in a row.

The second, for promoters: You can now request an icon, or equivalent amount of work on a sketch of your choice for every three new commenters who mention that you sent them! This one's kind of experimental, so I'm not setting a time limit on it for now. I know some of you link to me often, and I'm interested in seeing how long it takes you to reach this goal if you're actually telling your readers to mention you.

I posted an updated version of Rin last night. This one took me a bit longer than I had planned, mostly because I kept struggling with the masochistic urge to render every blade of grass on the hilltop :P The perspective on the goat had been bugging me for awhile, so I'm very glad to have finally fixed it :)

Today's plan is to finish an icon and do some inking; [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion asked me to contribute to the upcoming Torn World colouring book, so I need to get my pages done. If I have any time/energy left after that, Wanted: One Gnome is next on the list to be cleaned up, and I have a new prompt from [personal profile] aldersprig.

It seems I won a character adoption from [personal profile] kajones_writing! Kayleigh has a lot of interesting characters and settings to choose from, so it wasn't an easy decision, but I ended up picking Aurora, because I'd like to see more of her relationship with her world's royal family, and what happens with the secretly magical prince.

And finally, the response to yesterday's inquiry about crowdfunding a wacom inkling has been quite encouraging, so I will definitely have to give it more thought. [personal profile] jjhunter asked about icons, which makes me think that small, digitally coloured versions are something I could offer along with the ink drawings. Would that appeal?

It's a new week, and a new month, so I'll be re-launching my call for prompts (LJ link) after I post this. If you've enjoyed the Story Sketches project so far, please help it grow by passing the link around! As an added incentive, if I get prompts from two new participants before next Monday, I'll let you all vote on a sketch from the archives to get another round of work!

Our newest icon winner is [livejournal.com profile] rowyn! I'll be adding her icon to the remaining items from the project list I started last week, including a cleaned-up version of Molly and Hel from [personal profile] wonder_city, and one for Torn World. The gift art I'm working on should (I hope!) be finished this evening, so I'll have time to focus on those :)

Art from this week:
New icons!
Without Fail
Vampire-in-Chief (rough sketch)
Feather-Blessed (rough sketch)

I didn't really sleep between Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning, I have no idea what timezone my system thinks it's in, and it looks like the rain may be coming back, so I'm struggling to work through a rather dense brain-fog atm...

So...end of week 9, and start of month 3 here. I re-issued my call for prompts, and I'll work on counting linkbacks sometime this week when I'm more alert. [personal profile] aldersprig has already posted another request, so I'll be working on that too :)

I thought I had other things to post, but I can't seem to recall any of them right now...should probably take the night to rest and rehydrate and try again tomorrow ^_^;

I've updated my call for prompts with a few new incentives, as we enter the second month of this project :)

  • Now that I've got a month's worth of sketches built up, I'm taking [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's advice to periodically revisit older work to give you a new reason to look at it. So, once a month, I will be going back to work on the most linked sketch from the archives! I get notified by LJ's pingback_bot if another user links to my posts there, but I've you've linked to me somewhere else, please let me know! I'll be adding link totals at the bottom of each post over the next week or so.

  • I'm going to post a detail view for every $10 in tips that I get on any cleaned-up sketch. If it means I have to work more on the zoomed-in area, I'll do that.

  • Prompters and sponsors can request higher resolution versions of their sketches! Just message me with an e-mail address to send it to.

Six people have commented on my sketch of [livejournal.com profile] robling_t's Tin Man, so I'll be working on it some more over the next couple of days.

My latest prompt is from a Torn World story...which makes it very likely that I will succumb to the temptation of joining this massive shared project. If I disappear for awhile, I'm probably off playing with unicorns ^.^
