This is a sketch of [personal profile] aldersprig's character, Autumn, from her Stranded World setting. In this story, a mysterious client has come to her ren faire booth seeking her skill with a different sort of ink painting.

I love the detail of Autumn and her outfit. This picture has a lot of potential for further development in the booth and background, too. I'm doing my best to help rustle up comments for the two new sketches so they can be refined.

I love the scale, too; it makes it obvious how big a guy he is :-D

I'm glad that this got updated. I love the greater detail in the characters, on the table, and the pictures in the background.

Some things in this picture look thicker than seems ideal, like the pen (brush?) in her hand and the lacings on her bodice. Also, most garb has a combination of patterns -- usually on the bodice so you can match it with lots of things, but given the detailing on the arms, skirt would probably be better to fancy up a bit. Maybe a bit of white trim, slightly above the hem?

I love the detail on her arms!

And the tree drawing in the window, and the trees outside!

Love the detail--especially the pictures behind her! And I like how the man's face is in shadow, too, emphasizing his, er, mysteriousness. I agree with Ysabet, though, on the thickness of the lacing and the pen--the pen seems big overall, though I suspect part of that is to show how small Autumn's hands were. (I would be more convinced by that if she were holding it like a pen, instead of like a flower or something.)

I really, really like the cup of water. I don't know why that is my favorite part. But it is.

I like the new details on Autumn's inking, the pictures, the view out the window -- and amusingly, the shading and grain on the table caught my eye. Waylen seems to be the "sketchiest" bit of the picture now. Are you going to keep his face in shadow? That makes him look sort of scary.

I'm a huge fan of Stranded, so I'm very happy to see Autumn. I love her outfit - it is very clearly Ren Faire. And the tattoos on her arms!

I remember this scene. I think her expression is just right.

Very pretty! Are those freckles?

Face is freckles, arms is tattoos, or at least self-painting. ;-D

I would love to see more details of her artwork, on paper and skin.

The day this came out I saw an illustration in the free afternoon commuter paper for some musical event thing that had a red haired girl with a guitar and a tattoo. It made me think of Autumn. I couldn't find it online so people could look at it...

Would the arms be self painting rather than tattoos so she can change them? Would that give her a better range of colours too?

I think the arms are a combo, mostly self-painting and some tattoos, the tattoos being sort of root charms/incantations.

I really like the composition; it's hard to have such a busy background without it distracting from the foreground.

I'm hoping we get to see more detailed artwork of her arms. :)

I wonder about the art on the wall behind her!

Alternate World Version?

I came into this cold, without any of the background info, and at first glance saw a suburban kitchen/dining room, with the kitchen sinks in the background under a large window looking out into a yard with paintings or prints or something hanging out to dry on the clothesline.

I suppose the people in the foreground could be doing something consistent with that, even if I have no idea what.

Just a thought. Let it take you where it will. Or not, if you prefer.

Query: Should Autumn have more bust?
On the other hand, is what she's wearing supposed to smooth things out?

I love the new details in this - her face, their clothes, the very intricate ink on her arms, and the artwork in the window.

Very cool!
