J made me go downtown in the rain with him yesterday to buy fabric for an ascot tie and yet another hat, so I guess there will be sewing to do when I've finished with the story sketch for Tin Man. *sigh* I like sewing, I really do, but this is the fourth hat in six months. The first three I can understand (cold weather, hot weather, in-between) but a fourth seems kind of superfluous. I just Do. Not. Get. the drive that so many people have to keep acquiring new clothes.

I have a literal Roomful Of Hats And Scarves (no, srsly), but this is because I knit, and they tend to keep... appearing. Perhaps I've simply displaced my hunting-and-gathering instincts vis-a-vis "acquiring new clothes" onto "acquiring yarn", but... yeah, Idunno where all those clothes come from for other people.

And, yeah, the desire to keep making stuff, that I get. Buying them or having them made based on pre-established patterns? Not so much. Doesn't that just cost more and take out the fun part?
