This one isn't really from a story. It's a request from my friend Mike, a civil war re-enactor, who asked that I draw him "Doing something old timey! Civil war or otherwise.[..]maybe working on the railroad or something cool ;)" I think the resulting sketch looks like it could be from a story, so I'm posting it here anyway :)

This is interesting. I like the pose and the character rendering. I'm intrigued by the lines of force. If I had this on paper I'd probably trace them all out and see where they actually cross -- the boards, railway slats, and pole all point to the character but not parallel. The character, however, is leaning the other way, leftward. It implies a subtle tension, and I think that helps to create the impression that something storylike is going on here.
