story sketch: spanish gardens [update:04-19-2011]

This sketch is the setting of an upcoming novel by Alma Alexander.

"Through the glass door you can glimpse a narrow room, one side
taken up with a glass-fronted display cabinet such as you would find
in a deli, the other crammed with a couple of narrow tables covered by
red and white checked tablecloths, flanked by old-fashioned wooden
chairs, no two of them exactly alike"

"There doesn't look to be enough room to swing the proverbial cat,
but next to the first table there's an arched opening, and there is
another room beyond. It has a further cluster of red-check-tablecloth
tables and mismatched wooden chairs."[...]

story sketch: trevor and jason [update: 04-19-2011]

This sketch features the vampire Trevor, dressed in a sensible anorak as he takes his werewolf flatmate, Jason for a walk. These characters are from Samantha Lynn 's Hiraeth, a fun series of vignettes with unexpected depth.

Oh noes! I seem to be out of sketches to do! 

I guess I'll have to spend some more time today looking for places to spread the link around. And doing dishes. Buuu...was hoping to avoid the dishes :P

OK guys, I am trying something new. During the monthly Poetry Fishbowl, Elizabeth Barrette  ysabetwordsmith  takes prompts for poetry based on a theme. This month's theme was "mad science." My prompt was "Igor." From it she got the following...

"Igor's Creature" -- 110 lines, $55
From the prompts about Igor, Igor's view, Frankenstein, and playing God ... I got "Igor's Creature." (Okay, I also threw in some ulterior knowledge from studying the original novel with an eye toward feminist deconstruction of male privilege and class warfare.) This free-verse poem is all about the guy who does the real work while his boss goofs off, hogs the credit, and generally wreaks havoc. Of course Igor winds up cleaning up the mess, but he's also the one who realizes that the monster isn't actually a monster ...

Now as the person that supplied the prompt, I've seen the entire poem. I think other people will enjoy it as well.  Finances are a bit tight for me at the moment which brings me to the trying something new part: I am hoping to get it sponsored. I was thinking that this poem might interest some of you, and if you are able to toss in a little funding, the poem will be posted in increments as sponsored. I love watching that happen. The poem I posted about yesterday, "Rabbit Season," has reached its half-funded mark.
