This is a sketch of warsailor Brelig's encounter with a deathfin sea monster, from Without Fail, a new Torn World story by ysabetwordsmith:

Brelig swiped his sickle toward the bleeding eyelid again -- and the deathfin grabbed him by that arm, lifting him high above the ship. The sudden shock of pain frayed his concentration. Brelig swung in the air, blood raining everywhere. Then he pulled himself upward to swing the axe into the deathfin's eye.

This scene is from the first chapter of Tin Man. Necromancer Robling Tremare considers hiring mercenary archer Liane Sharpshaft as a bodyguard to compensate for the deficiencies of his current travel companion, the plate mail golem, as he continues on his quest to avenge the vanished Tremare Guild.

This is a scene from the first book set in clare_dragonfly 's Chatoyant College, the only american university that has classes in magic alongside its more conventional course offerings. All is not what it seems on what, at first, appears to be a normal college campus, and freshman students Annie, Edie, Corrie, Dawn, and Rico soon find themselves fleeing the real reason the nearby forest is forbidden.

This sketch is the setting of an upcoming novel by Alma Alexander.

"Through the glass door you can glimpse a narrow room, one side
taken up with a glass-fronted display cabinet such as you would find
in a deli, the other crammed with a couple of narrow tables covered by
red and white checked tablecloths, flanked by old-fashioned wooden
chairs, no two of them exactly alike"
